Following our disembarkation at Yichang, we take a shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam, recognized as the world's largest power station by installed capacity. Beyond its role in electricity generation, the dam serves a crucial function in flood control, a testament to its multifaceted importance. Constructed over a span of 12 years and completed in 2006, the dam site encompasses five parks offering panoramic views of the project and educational insights into hydrology, including the optimal timing for water release. Notably, the dam features a ship lift that significantly reduces transit time through the area, from four hours to a mere 40 minutes, along with an expansive lock system spanning 5,272 feet. An optional tour using a smaller boat to tour the Three Gorges Dam Ship Elevator is available. Cable cars and golf carts are available for a more immersive exploration of the area (a surcharge applies). Following our informative tour, we transfer to the airport for a flight to Shanghai.
