Explore Siem Reap, the home of Angkor Wat, and discover its incredible ancient temple ruins. Our journey begins at Angkor Thom, the 10th-century fortified city built by the great Khmer ruler, King Jayavarman VII. We enter through the South Gate, passing by the iconic statues of gods and devils reenacting the Churning Sea of Milk bas-relief. Within Angkor Thom, we visit the awe-inspiring Bayon Temple, a masterpiece of Khmer architecture adorned with 172 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara. It stands as the city's centerpiece and holds a sense of mystery. Our next stop is the Royal Enclosure, where the Elephant Terrace showcases remarkable depictions of elephants and hunting scenes. Nearby, we explore the Terrace of the Leper King, named after a 15th-century sculpture of Yama, the god of death. Continuing our journey, we visit the 12th-century Preah Khan temple, built by Jayavarman VII, as a unique complex that embraces religious tolerance, honoring Buddhism, ancestor worship, and Hindu deities Shiva and Vishnu.
